At least one good thing has come out of the BARC debacle: Publicity. Some of the animals there are featured in a regular letter. But read the stories: The scum that usually makes the cut for adopting a pet, turn around and abandon the animal again. High adoption rates --something definitely desirable-- rest on a loose filter of applicants. "Come and get them!" High kill rates --something immoral and undesirable -- result from being selective about who deserves and can handle to own an animal. It's the endless conundrum.
I'd rather be dead than be abused and neglected, serially. I wish animals could talk and tell us. Meanwhile, it is good to see BARC introducing its wards to a greater public.
