City Hall Tomorrow.....
I will go to City Hall tomorrow with others to protest this latest abomination. I suggested to No Kill Houston and NOAHs Arc they take up this case as a "personalizing" symbol of what happens there. It is easier for most people to get angry about one particularly egregious case, like Keiko's, than about the hundreds of thousands who have suffered similar, albeit anonymous, fates. Keiko gives the ineptitude of BARC a face (and what a face!) ... a cause celebre. They may have listened or perhaps we were on the same wavelength, because tomorrow several people will go to City Hall to talk about this "publicity stunt" on the part of BARC (play hero if the dog survived... without eyes) all the while ignoring human eye surgeons and veterinary specialists who offered to run diagnostics (her eyes may have been saved!) or operate themselves free of charge... A donor was offering as much money as necessary for vet care ... BARC would not release this particular dog, going against the usual protocol concerning high-risk animal injuries, whereby the animal must go to whoever is able to provide the best care at no cost to tax payers. It was a publicity stunt that cost an animal her life ... a life that could have been good to compensate for previous horrors she had suffered
